📋About
Boomtown 2026: a life-size theatrical city in the hills of Hampshire
From 12 to 16 August 2026, the rolling Matterley Estate just outside Winchester, Hampshire, transforms once again into an imaginary metropolis. Boomtown is unlike any other festival: it is an inhabited stage set, where costumed actors, painted facades and an ongoing storyline turn every lane into an unfolding adventure. The 2026 edition, Chapter Five: Radical Redesign, continues a serialised narrative driven by a cast of recurring characters.
Districts, not just stages
Instead of ordinary stages, Boomtown is explored as sharply drawn districts: Area 404 and its anarchist punks, the plant temple of Botanica, the roaring-twenties glamour of Copperwood, the fairground rogues of Oldtown, and the screen-addled techtopia of Metropolis. The lavish opening and closing ceremonies bookend each chapter of the story.
Sound without borders
True to its sound-system roots, the bill spans dub, reggae, drum & bass, electronica, ska and hip-hop. The 2026 line-up features Skrillex, Faithless, Madness, Four Tet, Groove Armada, Scissor Sisters, Shy FX, Ashnikko, Floating Points, Kneecap, Kae Tempest, Shaggy, Sampa The Great and Belgian metal collective AMENRA. A dedicated wellbeing zone, The Retreat, offers saunas, hot tubs and craft workshops to recharge between nights.
