More about August 2026
August keeps peak summer going with 547 festivals taking place worldwide, one of the busiest months of the year. Building on July's momentum, the calendar stays dominated by major open-air events set in parks, gardens and estates, before the return to indoor stages gradually picks up with the new season.
Highlights include Shambala Festival (United Kingdom), Rebellion Punk Music Festival (United Kingdom), Decibel Outdoor Festival (Netherlands) and Dimensions Festival (Croatia), among the month's biggest line-ups. On the genre side, Pop (361 festivals) and Rock (354) lead by a wide margin, followed by Electro (298), underlining just how varied the late-summer bill really is.
Geographically, France (103 festivals) leads the way ahead of the United States (85), the United Kingdom (82), Germany (63) and Canada (28). After July's outdoor peak, August closes out the open-air season before September gradually shifts things back toward urban and indoor formats — book accommodation and tickets early, as demand stays high right through the month.
