East Coast Hip Hop: 26 upcoming festivals, including 12 with tickets on sale.

East Coast Hip Hop is characterized by complex lyrical flows, often delivered over sample-heavy, jazz-infused beats with a raw, boom-bap energy and a focus on storytelling. Originating in New York City's South Bronx in the late 1960s and early 1970s, it emerged from urban cultures, incorporating elements of DJing, MCing, breakdancing, and graffiti. Iconic artists like Nas, The Notorious B.I.G., and Wu-Tang Clan defined its golden age. The genre significantly influenced global hip-hop, establishing a lyrical and production benchmark that continues to resonate.
