Novo Dub

Novo Dub is characterized by its prominent, often distorted basslines and intricate drum patterns, heavily processed with echo, reverb, and delay, creating a spacious, hypnotic, and atmospheric soundscape. Originating from the radical remixing techniques of 1970s Jamaican dub, it evolved significantly from 1985 onwards with the widespread integration of electronic and digital instruments in both Jamaica and Great Britain. Key artists include King Tubby, who pioneered the original dub sound, and later innovators like Mad Professor and Adrian Sherwood.
