They found it in hardcore punk, which they appropriated and transformed by injecting melodic riffs borrowed from metal, technical guitar solos, and accessible vocal harmonies. Musically, skate punk is characterised by very fast tempos, treble-tuned guitars with power chord riffs and flashy solos, drums hammering thrash patterns inherited from metal, and vocals alternating clean singing with screamed interventions.
