📋About
Flow Festival 2027: pop, club culture and experiments inside a former Helsinki power plant
It began in 2004, when the Nuspirit Helsinki collective took over disused railway warehouses in the city centre and drew 4,000 people in its early days. Based since 2007 at Suvilahti, a former power station within walking distance of downtown, Flow Festival now welcomes around 90,000 people per edition: 91,000 came in 2026, a weekend that ended with a two-hour Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds set on the main stage. Over 1,600 acts have played here, Björk, Kendrick Lamar, Kraftwerk and Frank Ocean among them.
The 2027 dates are Friday August 13 to Sunday August 15. No names are out yet: music, talks, art, food and Family Sunday will all be revealed later. The formula rarely shifts: big pop and indie names, leading DJs and electronic club acts, plus serious room for experimental music, which has had its own programme, The Other Sound, since 2010.
Ten venues share the grounds. The Main Stage sits in front of a 57 by 8.4 metre screen, the Silver Arena added in 2023 holds 15,000 and the Balloon 360° has tiered seating. Since 2025 the Front Yard has brought electronic sets into the old Hanasaari power plant, while the Heineken Backyard leans on house, disco and soul. Tiivistämö, a former gasworks building, hosts Flow Talks by day and turns into a quiet retreat at night; the gasometer houses the Platinum area.
Only adults get in, except between 1 and 5 pm on the Sunday, when children aged 12 and under may come with an adult whose ticket covers that day. For 2027 only three-day and three-day Platinum passes are on sale so far (other ticket types will follow), online and in advance only (festival shop or Tiketti); the Super Early Bird tier of August 2026, now closed, cost €229 and €349. There is no parking on site (the nearest car park is at the Redi shopping centre in Kalasatama), so the festival recommends the metro to Sörnäinen or Kalasatama (zone AB) or cycling, using a large free yet unguarded bike park. Payment is cashless. In 2026 more than 40 restaurants each offered at least one vegan dish, with no red meat or poultry. In 2025 the festival became the first in Finland to budget its emissions.
