Acoustic Rock

Acoustic Rock: 21 upcoming festivals, including 11 with tickets on sale.

Acoustic Rock emphasizes unamplified or minimally amplified instrumentation, primarily acoustic guitars, often accompanied by bass, drums, and vocals, creating an intimate, organic, and often introspective sound with a focus on melody and songwriting over raw electric power. This genre emerged in the wake of electric rock's dominance, drawing heavily from folk traditions while retaining rock's structural sensibilities and lyrical depth. Influenced by the folk revival and the increasing use of electric instruments, it offered a stripped-down alternative to the prevalent amplified sounds. Iconic artists include Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Eric Clapton (especially his *Unplugged* era). Its enduring appeal lies in its authenticity and the direct connection it fosters between artist and listener.
