Hardcore Punk is an aggressive, fast-paced subgenre of punk rock characterized by raw, distorted guitars, frantic drumming, and shouted vocals, creating an intense and often confrontational atmosphere. Emerging from the underground scenes of Southern California in the late 1970s and later on the East Coast in the 1980s, it evolved from traditional punk's rebellious spirit, pushing its speed and intensity to new extremes. Iconic artists like Black Flag, Minor Threat, and Bad Brains defined its sound and ethos. While initially an underground phenomenon, its influence permeated later rock music, and melodic hardcore emerged as a notable subgenre.
