Indietronica

Indietronica: 52 upcoming festivals, including 20 with tickets on sale.

Indietronica, also known as indie dance, blends the melodic structures of alternative and indie rock with the rhythmic drive of electronic music, often featuring synthesizers, samples, and a post-disco dance atmosphere. This genre emerged primarily from the UK, gaining international traction by fusing rock sensibilities with electronic production techniques. Key influences include the intersection of rock and dance music that began to popularize in the 1980s. Iconic artists like New Order and The Prodigy are representative figures who pioneered this fusion. Its cultural impact lies in bridging the gap between guitar-driven indie scenes and the burgeoning electronic music landscape.
