❓FAQ
How do you get to Piercefield Park by train or bus?
The nearest station is Chepstow, a small Welsh border town 18 miles from Bristol and 125 miles from London. A festival shuttle bus runs from the station to the box office and on to the Welcome Tent, on a magic-hat donation basis. Outside shuttle hours, the number 69 public bus leaves the town-centre bus station for the site entrance — ask the driver for Chepstow Racecourse. There is a taxi rank outside the railway station, and walking takes roughly 20 minutes from town. Site postcode: NP16 6EH.
What time do the gates open each day?
Gates and Box Office open at 12 noon on Thursday, the opening day, then from 10am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They close at 10pm every day, so arrive by 9.45pm to be sure of entry. Headliners finish at 11pm, and the site must be cleared by noon on Monday.
Is camping included in the ticket?
Yes — a full festival ticket covers four nights in a tent in the rolling meadows of Piercefield Park, looking out over the Severn estuary and Wye Valley. Several areas sit side by side: Family Camping, Quiet Camping, General Camping, Assisted Access, plus pre-pitched tents, yurts and tipis from Camplight and the Glamping Glade. Cars stay in the car park, and a paid live-in vehicle pass is required for campervans, caravans and trailer tents. This is one of the few festivals still allowing small campfires, provided they are raised in a sturdy brazier on a heat-proof base. On site you will find composting toilets, drinking water standpipes, simple showers and a wood-fired sauna.
Up to what age do children go free?
Under-11s are free. On day tickets, sold only at the gate, expect £25 for 11-15s, £40 for 16-17s and £60 for an adult, with car parking a further £5. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
What food is available?
Expect reasonably priced ethical food outlets, a grocery stall with fruit, veg, wholefoods and toiletries, and a bakery turning out fresh bread and pastries. The Crock 'n' Rock stall lends plates and cutlery and washes them up for you. No water is sold in plastic bottles, so bring a refillable bottle and your own mug. A small supermarket is three minutes' walk from Lion Gate, with more shops in town 20-30 minutes away.
Can you pay for everything by card?
No, and deliberately so: the festival flies the flag for Keeping Cash Alive. Many stalls are cash-only and the nearest cashpoints are in town, a 20-30 minute walk away, so bring notes with you. Solar-powered phone charging is available at the Info Exchange.
What accessibility provision is there?
One flat, surfaced track crosses the site, and on or beside it sit two music venues, the Speakers' Forum, the Raconteurs' Delight stage, bars, market stalls, the information tent, the medical tent and several food stalls; other areas involve sloping ground and can turn muddy. The Assisted Access crew run two shuttle buggies, one of them wheelchair-accessible, a solar charging station for electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters (a current PAT certificate is required) and a welcome area with accessible toilets and shower. A free PA ticket is granted on proof of higher-rate DLA/PIP, and BSL support must be booked ahead — all requests go by email between 1 February and 30 June. The Welfare Tent houses the POD, a quiet space with weighted blankets, mood lighting and white noise. As the shuttle buses are not wheelchair accessible, the festival recommends booking a wheelchair-accessible taxi from Chepstow Cars at least seven days ahead; keep the receipt and the cost is reimbursed at the Assisted Access marquee.
How long does the 2026 edition run?
Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August 2026 — four days and four nights of camping. The Green Gathering is grassroots and non-profit: surplus ticket income goes to The Green Gathering charity (no. 1156593), which backs renewable energy and low-impact living projects.
