Iron Fest 2026: the heavy metal festival at Ohmbach Lake, Germany
Iron Fest takes place every year on the shores of Ohmbach Lake in Rhineland-Palatinate. From May 28-30, this open-air festival celebrates traditional heavy metal and thrash metal with an expert lineup of German and international acts from the underground metal scene.
The 2026 edition brings together 10 bands headlined by UK legends Angel Witch, pioneers of NWOBHM, the US's Flotsam and Jetsam, and Germany's Tankard, thrash veterans. The death metal scene is represented by Benediction.
The festival explores the territories of speed metal and groove metal, with bands like Atlantean Kodex, Megaton Sword, and Steelpreacher. You'll also find touches of progressive metal with Sacrosanct, Vengeance, and Warrant, illustrating the diversity of German and European old-school metal.
