Mad With Power is the brainchild of Lords of the Trident, a band from Madison, Wisconsin. Singer Ty Christian, known on stage as Fang VonWrathenstein, started it in 2017 in a mid-sized room, tired of broken promises and pay-to-play deals at two large American metal festivals. The idea: power metal, heavy metal and traditional metal from mid-card bands, few veteran acts and a slot always kept for newcomers. Now based at The Sylvee, it says it sold more tickets in 2023 than any other power metal festival in North America.
On May 21 and 22, 2027, the bill mixes Canada, Europe and the US scene. Friday: Nemesis Engine (Milwaukee), Anubis (Los Angeles), Osyron, Italy's Elvenking, Elisa C. Martin from Spain, then Swedish band Majestica to close. Saturday: Imminent Sonic Destruction, Dethlehem with its Dungeons and Dragons-fed melodic death, Judicator, Powerglove and their video game shred, hosts Lords of the Trident, then Unleash the Archers, already here in 2023.
