📋About
Open Air Gränichen 2026 in Switzerland
The Open Air Gränichen establishes itself as the essential gathering for hardcore and punk in German-speaking Switzerland, bringing together the best representatives of hardcore punk, metalcore, deathcore, and melodic hardcore. This 2026 edition promises an explosive lineup for breakdown and moshpit enthusiasts.
The main stage will welcome Less Than Jake, Florida ska-punk pioneers and true Warped Tour institutions, along with SIGNS OF THE SWARM, masters of brutal technical deathcore. The festival will also spotlight Deez Nuts, Australian ambassadors of beatdown hardcore, alongside Bad Cop/Bad Cop with their energetic punk rock.
Old school hardcore fans will groove to performances from Pulley, California melodic hardcore veterans, while the local scene will be represented by Exorbitant Prices Must Diminish, Hathors, Insanity61, and Nguru, four bands embodying the Swiss hardcore new wave.
With its family atmosphere and uncompromising programming, Open Air Gränichen continues to celebrate the DIY spirit and diversity of the global hardcore scene. A festival reminding us that punk and hardcore remain living, committed, and authentic music.
❓FAQ
Which edition of Open Air Gränichen takes place in 2026?
This is the 30th edition, of a festival that has been part of the Swiss hardcore, punk, metalcore and rock scene since 1995 — the organising association is in its 32nd year. It runs entirely on volunteers: more than 500 helpers and an organising committee, none of them paid, as the festival is a non-profit.
What are the dates and how long does it last?
Two days: Friday 31 July and Saturday 1 August 2026, in the Moortal at Gränichen (Moortalstrasse 48, 5722 Gränichen). The night before, on Thursday 30 July, the association puts on “De Donnstig”, a quieter free evening with live music at the Sounderia, food stalls and a children's programme run by CEVI and Pfadi Blaustein — the campsite, however, stays closed that Thursday.
How many stages are there, and how are sets scheduled?
Two stages, the Main Stage and the Sounderia, alternating with no clashes from 13:30 through to 01:30, in slots of 45 minutes to 1h15. Friday closes with Heaven Shall Burn at 22:15 and Insanity 61 at 00:30; on Saturday, Agnostic Front play at 16:45, Less Than Jake at 20:00 and Signs Of The Swarm finish things off at 00:30.
What time do the gates open?
The site, campsite included, opens at 12:00 on Friday and then stays open continuously until 10:00 on Sunday for two-day pass holders. A Friday ticket gives access until 10:00 on Saturday, and the site reopens at 12:00 on Saturday — turning up earlier gains you nothing. Everyone is searched on each entry, and ages are checked at the gate: 16 for beer, wine and cider, 18 for spirits and cigarettes.
Do you have to pay for camping?
The tent field is included in the festival ticket and opens at 12:00 on Friday (closed on Thursday). Arriving in a live-in vehicle — caravan, motorhome, VW bus — requires a CAMPER-TICKET at CHF 40, one per vehicle, in an area separate from the tent field, and with no electrical hook-ups at all. Parking costs CHF 5 per day; camping or parking outside the marked zones is forbidden, as the land is farmed before and after the festival.
How do you get there by train, and is there a shuttle?
Public transport is the recommended option: from Aarau station, platform 11, the S14 towards Menziken drops you at “Gränichen Oberdorf” in about 12 minutes, followed by a ten-minute walk to the site. For journeys home after midnight, a free shuttle bus runs back to Aarau.
What is there to eat on site?
Breakfast is served on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 08:00 to 11:30 at the Hawaiibar: fresh sandwiches, gipfeli and rolls from a local bakery, with meat, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices. The rest of the time the Foodmoshpit and the pasta and grill stands handle the meals, with beer, wine and cocktails at the site bars. Reusable cups carry a CHF 2 deposit, refundable at any bar and then at the entrance marquee on Sunday between 08:00 and 12:00.
Do children pay to get in?
Entry is free for children up to and including age 12 when accompanied by a parent. Anyone under 16 must bring a parental consent form, downloadable from the festival site, and show it at the box office. Animals, on the other hand, are not allowed anywhere, campsite included.
Is the festival wheelchair accessible?
A raised platform is reserved for wheelchair users in front of the Main Stage, and an accessible toilet is provided on site — remember to bring your Eurokey. On tickets, wheelchair users pay the full price, but one companion per person gets in free on presentation of a Swiss disability insurance (IV) card.
How do you pay on site?
No cashless wristband here: cards, Twint and cash are all accepted at the bars and stands, and the merch stand doubles as a cash withdrawal point.
How many people come each day?
Around 9,000 music fans gather at each edition, from Switzerland and just across the border. Over two days that works out at roughly 4,500 people a day — an approximate figure, as re-entries and single-day tickets blur the count.
