❓FAQ
What are the festival dates and opening times?
RIEZ Open Air 2026 runs over 3 days, from Thursday 23 to Saturday 25 July 2026, in the garden of the RIEZ Rockbar in Bausendorf. Doors open at a different time each day: 19:00 on Thursday, 15:30 on Friday and 11:00 on Saturday. Arrival is possible from Thursday onwards, with the parking, camping and caravan areas opening at 18:00 on Thursday.
Where does the festival take place and how do you get there?
The festival is held in Bausendorf-Olkenbach (Zur Riez 1, 54538), near Wittlich in the Eifel, between the Moselle and the Hocheifel and between Trier and Koblenz (Rhineland-Palatinate). By car: take the A48 between Trier and Koblenz, exit at Wittlich Mitte (not Hasborn), then follow the "OPEN AIR" signs for the final 2 km rather than your sat-nav. By train: to Wittlich (Wengerohr) station, then a taxi (10 km) or bus line 355 to "Bausendorf Kita" followed by about a 10-minute walk.
Is camping available and does it cost extra?
Yes. Camping requires a camping ticket combined with a valid entry ticket and costs €15 per person. The caravan area (a separate site above the campground, not accessible to cars) costs an extra €10 per vehicle. Camping opens at 18:00 on Thursday, is monitored overnight and has sanitary facilities plus warm showers. Cars cannot drive onto the camping field. Open fire, glass and pets are not allowed. Parking, on the other hand, is free.
Is there food on site, including vegetarian/vegan options?
Yes. Catering is provided by Hofladen Zirwes (snack classics) and, for vegetarian and vegan food, by Mo's Falafel (which accepts card payment). Breakfast is served on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 at the counter inside the tent and can be paid for with the token card (Bonkarte).
Is payment cashless?
The festival uses a drink-token system (Bonkarte / Getränkebons). Card payment is available at the entrance for admission, drink tokens and merchandise. At the food stands, however, token cards are not accepted; Mo's Falafel does take card payment.
How many stages are there and what is the daily line-up?
The festival has 2 stages: the Open Air Stage and the Tent Stage. The punk/hardcore programme spans three days. Thursday 23 July: Day Out, Toxoplasma, The Feelgood McLouds, then a Jukebox Party. Friday 24 July: Avoid Amber, Stay Free, Señor Karõshi, Skin of Tears, The Penske File, Blackout Problems, Tribute To Nothing, The Baboon Show and NØFX (tribute). Saturday 25 July: Primetime Failure, Slope, Shutdown, Jaya The Cat, Blood Command, Dritte Wahl and Bundesgarten Show.
Is there an age limit and are children admitted?
The festival is in principle for ages 18 and over, but minors are admitted under conditions: 16-17 year-olds may enter with a valid ID until 00:00 (or later if accompanied by a legal guardian); under-16s only when accompanied by a legal guardian. Children under 14 get in free but must be accompanied by their own parents. For minors, the completed and signed "Hinweis zur Aufsichtspflicht" form is required. Remember to bring your ID for the age checks at the entrance.
What can and can't you bring?
Personal drinks and food are not allowed; bags are permitted up to DIN A4 size and are checked at the entrance. Also prohibited: weapons, drugs, irritant sprays (pepper spray), laser pointers, flammable substances (spray deodorant, hairspray), pyrotechnics and Bengal flares, bottles, cans and drink containers, chairs and seating, drones, and animals of any size. Professional cameras (SLRs) are not permitted. Ear protection (earplugs) is on sale at the entrance till.
When was the festival founded and what is its history?
The idea for RIEZ Open Air was born in 1998; the first edition took place in May 1999, organised by Roland Reif and Rüdiger Schichel. Since 2005 it has been run by Mario Schichel. A long-running "family" punk and hardcore festival nicknamed the "krasseste Gartenparty der Welt" (the wildest garden party in the world), it has hosted heavyweights over the years such as Hatebreed, Lagwagon, Bouncing Souls, Against Me!, Terror, Sick of It All and Slime, and today draws up to 1,000 festival-goers, some travelling from Switzerland and Belgium.
