Sun & Thunder Festival 2026: Costa del Sol's Metal Assault

Sun & Thunder Festival invades Marenostrum Fuengirola on Spain's Costa del Sol from August 28-30, 2026, for three days dedicated to metal under the Mediterranean sun. This one-of-a-kind festival brings together 10 bands among the most respected from the European power metal, black metal, and hard rock scenes, offering metalheads a festival experience where Andalusian beaches meet devastating riffs.

The 2026 lineup is led by AVANTASIA's epic project, Tobias Sammet's metal opera bringing together the genre's greatest voices, and German legends PRIMAL FEAR, masters of powerful traditional heavy metal. Veteran thrashers Destruction will bring their Teutonic fury, while Finland's Lordi will ignite the stage with their spectacular horror rock theatricality.

The festival also explores contemporary metal territories with Austrian duo HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY and their atmospheric post-black metal, Portuguese GAEREA offering their intense masked black metal, and CALVA LOUISE with their alternative rock approach. Faroese singer Eivør will bring her mystical Nordic folk atmospheres.

The lineup is completed with All For Metal and their anthemic power metal, and amh representing the underground scene. Between progressive metal, symphonic metal, and doom sounds, Sun & Thunder Festival celebrates the diversity of European metal in a unique summer atmosphere where festival-goers can combine intense headbanging and Mediterranean swimming under the Andalusian sky.
