Alternative Metal: 69 upcoming festivals, including 26 with tickets on sale.

Alternative Metal fuses heavy metal's power with elements from alternative rock and other non-metal genres, often featuring distinctive guitar riffs, melodic vocals, unusual sonic textures, and experimental song structures. Emerging in the 1980s but gaining significant traction in the 1990s, its origins lie in blending metal's aggression with the diverse sounds and unconventional approaches of alternative music. Iconic artists include Faith No More, Alice in Chains, and Tool, who exemplify its varied stylistic palette. This genre's popularity helped launch numerous subgenres and broadened heavy metal's appeal to a wider audience.
