Bergenfest is an urban festival that takes place in June at the Bergenhus Fortress in Bergen, Norway's second-largest city. This festival offers four days of concerts in an exceptional historical setting by the harbor, mixing international pop and hip-hop in the capital of Norwegian fjords.
The 2026 edition brings together 19 artists, headlined by Kings of Convenience, a Norwegian indie folk duo, Lewis Capaldi in pop, and The Hives in garage rock. The lineup explores contemporary pop and indie rock.
The festival is distinguished by its unique setting in the medieval Bergenhus Fortress, offering breathtaking views of the harbor and surrounding mountains. The atmosphere combines historical heritage and current music, creating a unique festival experience in Norway.

How many stages does Bergenfest have?
The festival unfolds across the historic Bergenhus Festning site on five stages: two outdoors, Plenen (the main stage) and Bastionen, and three indoors — the Magic Mirrors spiegeltent (1,000 capacity), the more intimate Hjertebank Scenen (600 capacity) and Håkonshallen, the medieval hall hosting seated concerts for 400 guests. The site holds up to 9,000 visitors per day.
What are the dates and how long does it run?
The 2026 edition takes place from Wednesday 10 to Saturday 13 June — four days of concerts.
What time do the gates open?
Gates open at 15:00 on Wednesday and Thursday, 14:00 on Friday and 12:00 on Saturday. Entry is at Bradbenken, by the Rosenkrantz Tower. The last act finishes around 23:00 (Wednesday), 23:45 (Thursday) and 00:45 (Friday and Saturday).
What food is available on site?
Food stalls serve dishes from around the world, to enjoy in the festival's food garden or on the grass facing the stages. Every vendor offers at least a vegetarian or vegan option, and most also have gluten-free choices.
Is the festival accessible for wheelchair users?
Yes. Gravel paths connect the site, ramps with good views are set up at the main stages Plenen and Bastionen, and both Magic Mirrors and Hjertebank are easily accessible. Accessible toilets are provided. Holders of a companion card may bring one companion per day, who enters free of charge on presentation of a valid card.
Are children allowed?
Children under 3 enter free, until 18:00 each day, and must wear hearing protection. From age 3 a ticket is required. Entry without a guardian is allowed from age 15; under-15s must be accompanied by an adult over 23.
How do I get there?
Bergen can be reached by train from Oslo or Flåm, by ferry, by plane or by car. From the airport, the Airport Bus stops at Bryggen, very close to the festival site and the city-centre hotels. The festival takes place on the grounds of a medieval fortress in Bergen's historic heart.
