Which edition is the 2026 Festival de Confolens?
The 68th. It all began on 6 December 1957 with the “Comité d’Organisation des fêtes du 2e dimanche d’Août”, chaired by Jacques Auguste Rougier; the first folk event, “Folklore des Pays d’Ouest”, was held on 9–10 August 1958 and drew 6,000 paying visitors. Confolens is also the birthplace of CIOFF®, founded here in 1970.

A full week, from Monday 10 to Sunday 16 August 2026, with events running from morning to late night — the day-by-day programme is published online.
Where do the performances take place?
Across the whole town. The Théâtre des Ribières hosts the main folk shows and has a smaller stage for shorter sets; the 10th-century church of Saint-Maxime hosts ensemble concerts; Place Henri Coursaget turns into the “Place du Monde” for the OFF programme. Add the Champ du Monde, the Guinguette, the Capitole cinema and the town centre itself during the “Ville en Fête” and “Nuit en Fête” nights.
Is there anything for children?
Yes — the Festival de Balilo, named after the mascot who roams the streets meeting young visitors. A dedicated area is set up at the Champ du Monde, with workshops, paid sessions such as the Festi’Bambins and free shows called Folk’enfants, including Amazonia on 12 August and South Africa on 13 August, both at 11am. It is aimed at under-12s.
