📋About
Donaufestival 2026: the contemporary arts festival in Krems, Austria
Donaufestival takes place annually in Krems and Stein an der Donau, twin towns in the Danube Valley UNESCO World Heritage site. This 2026 edition, scheduled from May 1 to 10, brings together 4 artists for ten days of contemporary arts, performances and experimental music. Since 1993, the festival has cultivated a radical and avant-garde identity, exploring the boundaries between artistic disciplines.
The lineup favors experimental artists and hybrid propositions, with Maruja, Alan Sparhawk, Oneohtrix Point Never and caroline. The festival blends art punk, drone, art pop and experimental electronic music.
Donaufestival stands out for its multidisciplinary programming, integrating concerts, installations, performances, conferences and screenings. The historic setting of Krems and the multiple venues used (concert halls, churches, public spaces, wine cellars) transform the city into an open-air artistic laboratory for ten days.
From May 1 to 10, 2026, Krems becomes the Austrian epicenter of contemporary arts. Check the full program and book your tickets.
