Free & Easy Festival 2026: the Backstage München summer concert series
The Free & Easy Festival is a summer concert cycle run by Backstage in Munich, Bavaria's flagship alternative venue. Rather than a typical weekend festival, it spreads across nearly three weeks: the 2025 edition ran from 24 July to 10 August, with a different bill every night.
Two dates are confirmed for the 2026 edition at the time of this update: 24 July and 5 August 2026. The 5 August bill features Tyske Ludder, a German electro-industrial and EBM outfit active since the 1980s. The rest of the programme is rolled out gradually by the venue.
Backstage München mixes genres across the series: metal, punk, gothic, hardcore and electronic music sit next to each other from one night to the next. It's a natural entry point to the German alternative scene for festival-goers who prefer intimate club formats over massive open-air events.
