Acid House: 70 upcoming festivals, including 19 with tickets on sale.

Acid House is an electronic music genre defined by its distinctive squelching, analog basslines, primarily generated by the Roland TB-303 synthesizer-sequencer, creating a hypnotic and often psychedelic atmosphere with driving rhythms. Emerging in Chicago around the 1980s as a derivative of house music, it quickly spread to the UK and Europe, becoming synonymous with early rave culture. Pioneering artists like Phuture and DJ Pierre were instrumental in shaping its sound. Its profound cultural impact transformed the British music scene in the late 1980s, influencing subsequent genres like trance and breakbeat.
