Industrial Rock

Industrial Rock: 37 upcoming festivals, including 16 with tickets on sale.

Industrial Rock is a fusion genre characterized by its abrasive, often distorted sound, incorporating harsh electronic textures, mechanical rhythms, and aggressive rock instrumentation to create a dark and confrontational atmosphere. Emerging in the late 1970s and early 1980s, it blended the experimental, noise-based aesthetics of industrial music with the raw energy of rock, influenced by post-punk and early electronic music. Pioneering artists include Chrome, Killing Joke, and Swans, with Wax Trax! Records later championing groups like KMFDM and Front 242. Its cultural impact led to diverse subgenres such as electro-industrial and industrial metal, broadening its appeal in the 1990s.
