Melodic Hardcore is a dynamic punk hardcore subgenre defined by its rapid drumming, energetic pace, and prominently melodic guitar riffs that create a distinct, often anthemic sound. Emerging from the Los Angeles hardcore scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s, it drew significant inspiration from modern punk bands, blending hardcore's intensity with more accessible melodic sensibilities. Iconic pioneers of the genre include Descendents, Bad Religion, and The Faith, who laid the groundwork for its evolution. Its emphasis on melody within a hardcore framework has had a lasting impact, influencing countless bands across various punk and rock subgenres.
