Uk Garage

Uk Garage: 129 upcoming festivals, including 47 with tickets on sale.

UK Garage is characterized by its distinctive syncopated kick drums and "choked" hi-hats, often creating a skippy, propulsive rhythm that feels both energetic and soulful, frequently incorporating pitched-up vocal samples. Emerging in the UK in the early 1990s, it evolved from American garage house, blending its soulful sensibilities with a uniquely British rhythmic innovation. Iconic artists like Artful Dodger and MJ Cole were instrumental in defining its sound. Speed Garage, a notable subgenre, accelerated tempos and emphasized heavy basslines, significantly impacting subsequent electronic music genres.
