❓FAQ
When was the Summer Jazz Festival Kraków founded?
The 2026 event is a jubilee edition: it is the 31st edition (XXXI), marked "1996-2026". Born in the mid-1990s around the legendary Piwnica pod Baranami cellar, it is one of the oldest and largest jazz festivals in Poland.
What are the dates of the jubilee edition and how many concerts are there?
The festival opens on 27 June 2026 with Pat Metheny (Side-Eye III+) at ICE Kraków, followed by Jan Garbarek on 28 June at the Kijów cinema. It then runs until 31 August 2026 and features nearly 150 concerts by Polish and international artists. Tickets are on sale on Ticketmaster.pl and at the festival office.
Where do the concerts take place?
Rather than a single stage, the festival takes over many venues across Kraków: ICE Kraków, the Kijów cinema, the Golden Hall of the Philharmonic (Solo Piano Week), the Manggha centre and, above all, the historic clubs Piwnica pod Baranami, Harris Piano Jazz Bar and Globus Music Club. It opens with "New Orleans Sunday", a large free open-air event on the Main Market Square, with a parade leaving the Town Hall at 5 p.m.
