Founded in 1998, SWR Barroselas Metal Fest is one of Europe's most uncompromising metal festivals. Located in Barroselas, northern Portugal, it attracts a devoted community of extreme music fans seeking authenticity and underground discoveries.
The 2026 edition runs from April 29 to May 2, featuring 34 artists across death metal, black metal, and grindcore. Headliners include Exhumed in goregrind, Revenge in war metal, and -16- in sludge.
The lineup explores every facet of extreme metal: death-doom, technical death metal, depressive black metal, thrash metal, hardcore punk. Acts like Primitive Man, Mortiferum, Vastum, and Beherit embody the festival's uncompromising spirit.
