The Great Escape Festival 2026: Brighton's « festival for new music » — three nights across multiple venues, 13 to 16 May
The Great Escape ran across multiple Brighton venues from 13 to 16 May 2026, holding to the multi-stage walking-festival format that has earned it the « festival for new music » official tagline. Operated by MAMA Festivals (per the site footer), Brighton's edition is built on a venue-hopping showcase model: dozens of small clubs, basements and seafront stages programming back-to-back 30-minute slots, with a parallel music industry Conference running during the day at the Brighton Centre.
Unlike most festivals on our roster, The Great Escape's editorial purpose is the discovery slot rather than the headline slot: 500+ acts curated to surface artists 6 to 18 months before they break. The 2026 line-up featured emerging acts Au/Ra, Japan, Em Beihold, KIDS RETURN, Blu Samu, Kingfishr, Meltt and Lord Apex — typical of the festival's alt-pop and rap range.
