Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2026: the world's largest gothic festival in Leipzig, Germany
Founded in 1992, Wave-Gotik-Treffen has become the world's largest gathering of the gothic scene. Every year at Pentecost, it transforms Leipzig into the international capital of dark culture, welcoming over 20,000 participants and 103 bands across ten iconic city venues. From the southern cemetery to deconsecrated churches, each location reinforces the festival's unique atmosphere.
The 2026 edition brings together legends of dark wave and gothic rock: Clan of Xymox, Einstürzende Neubauten, and Kim Wilde headlining. Also featured are Covenant, D.A.F., and Das Ich.
The lineup covers every shade of the dark scene: EBM, aggrotech, neofolk, coldwave, deathrock, electro-industrial, and even medieval. Beyond concerts, the festival offers Victorian markets, costume parades, and poetry readings.
