Acid Techno

Acid techno is a pulsating electronic genre defined by its relentless, often distorted, squelching basslines primarily generated by the Roland TB-303 synthesizer, driving a high-energy, less repetitive rhythm than many techno forms. Emerging in the late 1980s, it evolved as a variant of techno, borrowing heavily from the characteristic sound of acid house and the influential New Beat scene. Pioneering artists like Woody McBride (DJ ESP) were instrumental in shaping its sound through labels such as Communiqué and Drop Bass Network. Its distinctive sonic palette has left a significant mark on underground dance culture.
