Ambient Pop

Ambient Pop: 24 upcoming festivals, including 8 with tickets on sale.

Ambient Pop blends the atmospheric, often electronic textures of ambient music with accessible pop melodies and structures, typically featuring ethereal vocals, subtle rhythms, and a generally understated, dreamy energy. Emerging in the late 1980s and early 1990s, it drew heavily from Brian Eno's pioneering ambient concepts and the sonic experimentation of shoegaze and dream pop. Cocteau Twins, The Sundays, and early Moby are quintessential artists of the genre. Its influence can be heard in various forms of indie pop and electronic music, offering a more introspective and atmospheric alternative to mainstream sounds.
