Hardcore Techno

Hardcore Techno: 129 upcoming festivals, including 40 with tickets on sale.

Hardcore Techno is characterized by its rapid tempos, typically ranging from 160 to over 200 BPM, intense distorted kicks and basslines, and an often aggressive or dark atmosphere, drawing parallels with industrial music's experimental edge. Emerging from European rave culture in the early 1990s, it developed as a faster, more extreme offshoot of techno, pushing boundaries with its raw energy and sometimes violent themes. While the source material doesn't name specific artists, pioneers in the genre include Rotterdam's Marc Acardipane and The Speed Freak. Its influential sound has spawned numerous subgenres, significantly impacting the landscape of electronic dance music.
