Happy Hardcore, also known as 4-beat or happycore, is an energetic electronic music genre defined by its fast tempo, uplifting melodies, powerful kick drums, and often pitched-up vocals, creating an overwhelmingly positive and euphoric atmosphere. Emerging in the early 1990s in the UK and Netherlands, it evolved from breakbeat hardcore and the hard dance scene, incorporating influences from styles like Italo house and hip-hop. Iconic artists like Hixxy, DJ Dougal, and Gammer are central to its development and popularity. The genre continues to thrive globally, particularly in the UK, Europe, North America, and Australia, often associated with rave culture and high-energy dancefloors.
