Skate punk, also known as skatecore or skate rock, is a high-energy punk rock subgenre characterized by fast tempos, thrash guitar riffs, and often melodic yet intense vocals, incorporating technical elements like guitar solos and harmonies. Emerging from the punk rock scene, it gained traction among skateboarders, surfers, and action sports enthusiasts, blending influences from hardcore punk, crossover thrash, and thrashcore. Iconic artists include Suicidal Tendencies, The Offspring, and NOFX. This genre not only provided a soundtrack for skate culture but also fostered a distinct fashion and lifestyle.
