The Inkcarceration Festival takes place at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio — the former penitentiary made famous by The Shawshank Redemption. Over three days, the festival combines rock and metal concerts, tattooing and tours of the historic prison. This unique setting makes it a standout event in the American festival landscape.
The 2026 edition gathers 44 artists centred on metal and rock. Disturbed, Papa Roach and Cypress Hill headline a bill that crosses into hip-hop and hard rock.
The programme explores nu metal, metalcore, post-grunge, pop punk and deathcore, with touches of rap rock and screamo for a resolutely heavy slate.
