What are the dates and opening times?
Newport Folk Festival 2026 runs over three days, from Friday July 24 to Sunday July 26, 2026, at Fort Adams State Park. Daily opening times are: parking and parking shuttles at 8:00 AM, Box Office at 9:00 AM, gates at 10:00 AM (along with food, crafts and merchandise), music from 11:00 AM, and beer and wine gardens from noon. Note that there is no re-entry to the grounds once you leave.
Where is the festival held and how do you get there?
The festival takes place at Fort Adams State Park, 90 Fort Adams Drive, Newport, Rhode Island 02840, on Narragansett Bay overlooking Newport Harbor. Several ways to get there: by car (on-site parking is limited, buy a pass in advance, credit card only); by water shuttle (the Newport Harbor Shuttle links Perotti Park to Fort Adams in a 15-minute ferry ride with no reservation needed, plus the Jamestown Newport Ferry and SeaStreak from Providence); by bicycle; or by Uber/Lyft rideshare (drop-off zones marked "Ridesharing" on Harrison Avenue).
Is on-site camping available?
No, there is no camping at Fort Adams State Park and none is offered by the festival. However, there are several campgrounds nearby; the festival points to visitrhodeisland.com for the full list and a map of the sites closest to Fort Adams.
Is payment cashless?
Tickets are 100% digital through the DICE app: no PDF or paper tickets are issued, and only the QR code shown on your smartphone is scanned at the gate (screenshots are not accepted). For parking, on-site payment is credit card only: cash is no longer accepted for parking as of 2026.
Is there an age limit, and are children allowed?
Children are welcome. Children 9 and under get in free (limit of 2 children per ticketed adult, entry through the dedicated child/family gate, proof of age required). Children 10 and older need a General Admission ticket. Anyone 15 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
What can you bring, and what is prohibited?
Allowed: empty refillable water bottles (free refill stations on site), soft-sided coolers, bags under 20"×20"×10", blankets 6'×8' or smaller, chairs under 34" high, personal shade tents, umbrellas (closed during performances) and point-and-shoot cameras. Prohibited: glass containers, hard coolers, alcohol, firearms, knives and tools, pepper spray, pets (except ADA service animals), professional photo/video gear and detachable lenses, drones, selfie sticks, bags larger than 20"×20"×10", plastic bags and straws. All people and bags are searched on entry.
