📋About
Awakenings: the global summit of pure, uncompromising techno
If there is one name the techno faithful rally behind, it has been the same for nearly three decades: Awakenings. Born in 1997 from a warehouse rave inside Amsterdam's Gashouder at the Westergasfabriek, it has grown into the genre's worldwide standard-bearer and its great annual open-air gathering. From 10 to 12 July 2026 the festival once again raises its stages in Hilvarenbeek, on the Beekse Bergen grounds, for what the official site and Dutch press call its biggest edition ever: 119,000 devotees expected from more than 115 countries, and already sold out.
The bill, roughly 150 artists deep, reads like a hall of fame for the form. Belgium's Charlotte de Witte and her compatriot Amelie Lens embody the new guard, while sonic architects such as Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Ben Klock and the tireless Marco Carola supply the depth. Russia's Nina Kraviz and an exclusive Joris Voorn x Kevin de Vries B2B, announced by the organisers, round out a programme that sweeps techno in every shade, from acid techno to hard techno.
Yet the brand is just as defined by its staging. According to the official site, the grounds unfold across forests, waterside clearings, industrial warehouses, dedicated hard-techno tents and hidden rave spaces, where rivals settle for a single open field. The schedule is built for purists too (Friday 15:00-01:00, Saturday 13:00-01:00, Sunday 13:00-23:00), with a campsite whose after-parties run until sunrise, a fully vegetarian food offer, a zero-tolerance policy and a clear sustainability drive. Now in its fifth consecutive year at Beekse Bergen, this edition cements a status few would dispute: the definitive reference for anyone who treats techno as a calling.
