Which edition is Beyond the Gates 2026, and how many nights does it run?
The Bergen festival returns from 29 July to 1 August 2026 for Chapter XIV: four nights back to back, Wednesday through Saturday.
Where are the concerts held?
Three venues in central Bergen share the bill. USF Verftet (Georgernes Verft 12) hosts Wednesday's main stage, Grieghallen (Edvard Griegs Plass 1) takes over on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and Kulturhuset (Vaskerelven 8) houses the club stage along with The Day Shift and The Night Shift sessions.
What time does the music start?
Club shows at Kulturhuset begin at 13:30, while the first bands on the main stages go on at 17:30. Wristbands can be picked up from 13:00 on Wednesday at Kulturhuset, or from 16:30 at the festival's main entrance. Daytimes are filled with guided tours as well: about 3 hours for the Black Metal Landmarks, 2 hours for Fantoft and 1 hour for Grieghallen, all of them in English.
What food is available on site?
A certified Grønn Festival since 2021, Beyond the Gates always keeps plant-based options on the menu and works with locally sourced ingredients and providers.
Can under-18s attend?
Norwegian alcohol law sets an 18-year age limit at the venues. Anyone younger must be accompanied by a sober guardian of at least 23, fill in a guardian form on arrival, and neither of them may buy or drink alcohol. On Saturday, Kulturhuset runs the daytime BeYoung the Gates programme for younger fans.
