📋About
Celtic Connections 2027: eighteen days of winter concerts across Glasgow
This is no weekend festival: between Thursday 14 and Sunday 31 January 2027, Celtic Connections stages its 34th edition as 300-plus events at the Royal Concert Hall, the Old Fruitmarket, City Halls, the Barrowland, SWG3 and Òran Mór, and plays aboard the Tall Ship Glenlee for the first time. Creative director Donald Shaw brings in musicians from over twenty countries, from folk and trad to jazz, orchestral and indie. In 2026 the festival broke its own sales record, with 114,000 admissions, 1,600 artists and 25 venues.
Scotland's GRIT Orchestra opens on 14 January with a world premiere: over 70 players led by Greg Lawson. Glasgow International Arena then hosts the two marquee nights: The Saw Doctors with Ímar on the 15th, and A.R. Rahman on the 16th performing Rangreza alongside Rushil Ranjan and Abi Sampa. On Friday the 15th, Punch Brothers join Jesca Hoop at the Royal Concert Hall, while The Milk Carton Kids share the bill with Vera Sola at the Pavilion Theatre on the 17th.
Later dates pair folk acts with orchestras: Ye Vagabonds with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, King Creosote with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Brìghde Chaimbeul with the Scottish Ensemble. Duncan Chisholm premieres Pan on Assynt, setting words by Norman MacCaig. Altan play the Royal Concert Hall on the 21st, Admiral Fallow mark twenty years at the Barrowland on the 22nd, This Is The Kit appear on the 26th and José González on the 27th. Americana comes from Sierra Hull and The Brudi Brothers, and the Celtic scene fields Trail West, Elephant Sessions, Breabach and Beoga, each topping the bill of their own show.
On the world music side, Òran Mór hosts the first Scottish date by Sulaf, Noura Mint Seymali is booked, and Raghu Dixit plays Drygate with his trio on the last night. Young talent includes Josie Duncan; the Danny Kyle Open Stage, running since 1999, takes applications until 31 December 2026. The Festival Club then stretches the nights out with sessions.
Tickets are sold show by show, with a 12% booking fee already included. Expect £23.90 to £35.10 for the opening night and £31.74 to £42.94 for Punch Brothers.
