World Festivals 2026-2027

148 upcoming festivals feature World, 37 where it dominates; 53 with tickets on sale.

World at festivals

World music festivals book artists from West Africa, North Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America, often next to reggae and diaspora acts from Europe's cities. The template is WOMAD, set up by Peter Gabriel and friends: its first festival was at Shepton Mallet in 1982, and it now also runs in Adelaide, Cáceres and Chile. After a year off in 2025, the UK edition moved to Neston Park in Wiltshire, where it runs in late July with workshops and talks alongside the stages.

In Liverpool, Africa Oyé has held free concerts of African and Caribbean music in Sefton Park every June since 2002. In France, Musiques Métisses in Angoulême, founded in 1976, takes place in early June by the Chais Magelis. Around Paris, Villes des Musiques du Monde, begun in Aubervilliers in 1997, spreads a month of concerts across Seine-Saint-Denis towns each autumn.
