Afro House is a vibrant house music subgenre characterized by its infectious, often percussive rhythms, deep basslines, and a soulful, energetic atmosphere, frequently incorporating instruments like saxophone, piano, and synthesizers alongside vocals in various African languages. Emerging primarily in South Africa during the 1990s, it fuses traditional house elements with African rhythms and sounds, drawing influences from Kwaito, Mbaqanga, Deep House, and Tribal House. While specific "iconic" artists can be debated, producers like Black Coffee and Da Capo are widely recognized for shaping its sound. The genre has had a significant cultural impact, becoming a staple in clubs and festivals worldwide and showcasing the rich diversity of African electronic music.
