Dubstep at festivals

Dubstep came out of South London in the early 2000s, and its birthplaces are well documented: the Forward>> night, launched in 2001 and later moved to Plastic People in Shoreditch, Digital Mystikz's DMZ parties in Brixton, and Big Apple Records in Croydon, where Hatcha and Skream worked. Today its dedicated festivals are mostly American, billed as bass music, and built around camping.

Lost Lands has been held at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio, since 2017, each September. Wakaan, the festival founded by Liquid Stranger, takes over Mulberry Mountain near Ozark, Arkansas, in early October, with camping and RV passes. Dubstep also gets stages at EDC Orlando in November and Forbidden Kingdom in April; in Europe it is mostly one strand of broader electronic festivals.
