When does Hardingtonar 2026 take place and how does the festival open?
The festival runs from 12 to 14 June 2026 in Norheimsund. It opens on Friday 12 June at 7:30pm at the Norheimsund idrettshall (sports hall) with the opening concert by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra (BFO), conducted by Julie Røssland, performing Geirr Tveitt's best-known work, Hundrad Hardingtonar.
In which venues are the concerts held?
Concerts take place across several local venues: the Norheimsund idrettshall for the opening concert, Norheimsund church (Norheimsund kyrkje) for Riise, Gimse and Klevstrand, and Øystese church (Øystese kyrkje) for 'Dei syngjande'. A dinner with an introductory talk ('Middag og fyresnakk') is also held on Friday 12 June at 5:30pm at the Thon Hotel Sandven.

Tickets are sold online via Ticketco. Tickets are also available before each concert: at the door you can pay by Vipps or by card. A festival pass grants access to the opening concert, the garden concert with Jan Eggum, the Riise/Gimse/Klevstrand concert and 'Dei syngjande'.

Hardingtonar was first held in June 1991 in Norheimsund. Since that first edition it has been an annual musical event, created to raise awareness of the work of Hardanger-born composer Geirr Tveitt, with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra as its cornerstone.
