Roadburn Festival 2027: four days of heavy, curious music in Tilburg
Every spring, the centre of Tilburg in the Netherlands turns into a meeting point for anything that sounds heavy, with no genre walls and a clear taste for the underground. Roadburn returns in mid-April 2027 guided by four words: community, connection, curiosity and creativity. Shows are split between 013 and the venues of the Spoorzone district, a five-minute walk apart, and you can move between them as you please. Around 4,500 people gather each day, and roughly three in four travel in from abroad.
This edition's common thread is Neurosis. First booked in 2007, entrusted with shaping the "Beyond The Pale" section in 2009, then celebrated across two nights in 2016 for their 30th anniversary, the band will play twice, on Friday and Saturday, carrying their album An Undying Love For A Burning World.
Around them, each day has its own shade. On Thursday, Emma Ruth Rundle plays her new album These Killing Times from start to finish, backed by a full band; Sadness, Damián Ojeda's blackgaze project from Illinois, meets a European crowd for the first time; British outfit IAN pits cello against rough-edged riffs; and Violencia brings powerviolence up from Tijuana.
