30 July to 2 August 2026, four days from Thursday to Sunday: Sunfest is held every year over the BC Day long weekend at Laketown Ranch. Campers must be checked out of their sites by 11 am on Monday 3 August.
How many stages are there?
Three: the Concert Bowl main stage (Thursday to Sunday, 4 pm-1 am), the Lakenight Stage (Thursday to Sunday from 6 pm) and the Flats Stage, running 6 pm-1 am on Thursday then 2 pm-1 am Friday to Sunday. Thursday's opening night, the Kickoff Party, happens on the Lakenight and Flats stages.
What are the gate hours?
The entry gate runs 1 pm-9:30 pm Thursday to Sunday, the box office 1 pm-9:30 pm Wednesday to Sunday for exchanging tickets for wristbands, and Concert Bowl gates open at 4 pm. One rule to plan around: no re-entry into the festival bowl after 8 pm, set by BC Liquor Control and the festival's insurer. Allow at least 30 minutes for security screening.
Do I pay extra to camp, and how does it work?
Camping is a separate purchase: you need both a festival wristband (single day or weekend) and a camping wristband, since Sunfest is a music festival with camping rather than a camping-only event. Each site comes with 2 wristbands and any extra camper or visitor must buy their own. Load-in runs 1 pm-9 pm Wednesday to Sunday, every site needs at least one responsible adult aged 18+, quiet hours are midnight to 8 am (generators off, music off after 1 am) and showers cost $5 per person, cash only. No wood fires or charcoal at all, and propane stoves and BBQs must sit 30 cm (12 in) off the ground.
What is there to eat and drink?
Vendors are picked with a cap on how many sell the same thing, so the menus stay varied. A small personal cooler is allowed for food, but no outside liquids come into the concert bowl: bring a refillable bottle, never glass, and top it up at the water stations fed by the aquifer beneath the ranch. Ice is sold at Guest Services.
Can I pay for everything by card?
Only partly. Food and merchandise can be paid for by credit or debit card, but beverage tickets are cash only, as are showers. ATMs are located at the ticket gate and by the beverage gardens, with service fees.
Do children get in free?
General Admission is free for ages 0-6, and discounted for ages 7-12 with a free zipline pass thrown in for each day. Access to the VIP, Lookout Lounge, Stage Pit and Lawn areas still requires a full-price ticket, and children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
How do I get there without my own car?
Shuttles run by approved third-party operators connect Nanaimo, Victoria, Duncan, Lake Cowichan and Youbou to Laketown Ranch, alongside private charters and hotel pickups (Ducharme Limo, Community Action Bus, CLCS Fun Bus, Gypsea Trucking); the Freedom Adventure Bus is wheelchair accessible. Several BC Transit routes also serve Duncan and Lake Cowichan, local taxis are on call (Duncan Taxi 250-746-4444, Safe & Sound Taxi in Lake Cowichan), and Harbour Air flies seaplanes into Nanaimo. Driving in, day parking is $25, or free if you arrive with five or more people all in seat belts.
