Afroswing

Afroswing, also known as Afrobashment, is a vibrant UK-born genre characterized by its infectious, often danceable rhythms, frequently featuring synth melodies, prominent basslines, and a generally upbeat, party-ready atmosphere. It emerged in the mid-2010s, blending the energetic foundations of dancehall and Afrobeats with elements of trap, UK hip-hop, R&B, and grime, partly as a response to the growing desire for African-influenced sounds in the UK mainstream. Artists like J Hus, Kojo Funds, and Not3s are considered pioneers of the sound. The genre has achieved significant commercial success, with many of its artists regularly charting in the UK.
