📋About
A non-profit giant built by 27,000 volunteers
Behind one of Northern Europe's largest festivals sits a rare model: no shareholders to pay. Run since its first edition in 1971 by the Roskilde Festival Charity Society, the Danish event channels all of its profits into humanitarian and cultural projects, with a clear focus on children and young people. According to official figures, 476 million Danish kroner have been redistributed since the start, and it takes some 27,000 volunteers to raise this temporary "city" each year — the fourth-largest in Denmark by population, with more than 130,000 participants.
This 54th edition runs from 27 June to 4 July 2026 on the Dyrskuepladsen in Roskilde. Eight days in all, including opening "First Days" devoted to emerging Nordic talent before the music builds to full force. The official site announces 177 concerts and more than 90 names across art and activism, spread over 16 stages and venues — among them two new stages, Fauna and Lagune.
The beating heart remains the Orange Stage and its iconic orange canopy, unveiled this year in an enlarged version. It is there that The Cure and Gorillaz will lead the charge, while Jennie (BLACKPINK) makes K-pop history there on 3 July. The bill spans every spectrum: the Pop of Zara Larsson and Addison Rae, the sharp Hip-Hop of Little Simz, Alternative with David Byrne, all the way to the frontal grindcore of Napalm Death.
