Hinterland 2027: three days of music out in the Iowa countryside, in Saint Charles
Launched in 2015, Hinterland has its home in Saint Charles (St. Charles), Iowa, roughly half an hour south of Des Moines down I-35. The next edition runs from Friday, July 30 to Sunday, August 1, 2027, and tickets are already on sale even though not a single act has been named for that year.
With no 2027 bill yet, the archive sets expectations, ranging from folk and country to rock and hip-hop: Brandi Carlile in 2015, Willie Nelson a year later, Phoebe Bridgers and Billy Strings in 2022, Bon Iver and Zach Bryan in 2023, Hozier, Noah Kahan and Chappell Roan in 2024, Tyler, The Creator and Lana Del Rey in 2025, then Lorde, Mumford & Sons and Kali Uchis in 2026. Beyond the main stage, the Campfire Stage in the campground carries on once the main concerts wrap up for every ticket holder; some years also featured a Brunch Stage and a stage aimed at kids.
