HOLLAND INTERNATIONAL BLUES FESTIVAL 2026 in Grolloo
The HOLLAND INTERNATIONAL BLUES FESTIVAL takes over the open air of Grolloo on June 19-20, 2026 for a weekend entirely dedicated to blues and roots rock. This major Dutch festival attracts the biggest names in the international blues scene each year in a festive and authentic atmosphere. Despite its name, the event also welcomes French festival-goers celebrating the richness of American and European blues heritage.
The 2026 edition features a legendary lineup led by VAN MORRISON, absolute icon of blue-eyed soul and folk rock, whose prolific career continues to mark music history. SAMANTHA FISH, queen of contemporary blues rock, will bring her flamboyant guitar playing and powerful voice. THE DEVIL MAKES THREE will mix bluegrass, folk and country in an energetic and danceable cocktail.
The program also features GEORGE THOROGOOD, boogie rock legend whose riffs have become timeless classics, and Keb' Mo', master of acoustic blues and delta blues. Robert Jon and the Wreck, MIDLAND and TIM KNOL complete this lineup promising two days of blues authenticity and memorable performances.
In the Dutch countryside of Drenthe, this outdoor festival offers a unique experience blending passion for blues, international friendliness and respect for African-American musical traditions. Where do the artists perform?
The concerts take place in a big tent, where major blues names such as Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart have shared the stage alongside emerging artists.
What are the festival dates?
The Holland International Blues Festival runs on 19 and 20 June 2026 in the Blues Village of Grolloo, over two days. The line-up blends blues, Americana and country.
How do you get there by public transport?
Take the train to Assen, then bus line 21 to the Grolloo Rotonde stop: the main entrance is a 500-metre walk away. From Assen, bus 21 runs twice an hour from 1:00 pm (via Rolde) on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 June, with last return buses at 23:35, 0:07, 0:35, 1:05 and 1:26. There is also a connection from Emmen, once an hour via Schoonoord and Schoonloo.
Is parking paid?
No, parking is free at the dedicated festival car park on the N376, directly opposite the site (unguarded). Overnight stays in the car park are not permitted, and you're asked not to park in the centre of Grolloo.
How do you buy tickets, and is there an on-site box office?
HIBF26 tickets are sold only as mobile tickets, linked to your Ticketmaster account and scanned from your phone. During the festival, an on-site box office also sells tickets, subject to availability, and it is open from 1 pm to 10 pm.
How long has the festival existed?
The festival was founded in June 2016 in Grolloo, hometown of blues legend Harry "Cuby" Muskee (Cuby & the Blizzards), whose farmhouse has housed a museum since 2011. More on the official site.
