Sylak Open Air 2026: metal and hardcore festival in France
Sylak Open Air takes over Stade Régis Perrin from July 31 to August 2, 2026, for three days of metal and hardcore punk. This French festival brings together 8 international bands spanning groove metal, alternative metal and extreme music.
The 2026 edition features three legends as headliners: American band Black Label Society, masters of acoustic rock and groove metal, Swedish Dark Tranquillity, pioneers of melodic death metal, and New York punks The Casualties, icons of street punk.
The lineup explores beatdown hardcore with Madball, the crossover between hardcore and hip-hop with Biohazard, and folk metal with Orden Ogan. The lineup also includes Cage Fight and experimental jazz project Sun, blending free jazz and avant-garde jazz.

How many editions has Sylak Open Air had?
With 12 editions behind it, Sylak Open Air has become a landmark summer event in France's Rhône-Alpes region. It is run by the non-profit association The Rock Runners, founded on 12 August 2005 and entirely volunteer-based (around 300 people on site).
Is there a campsite and is it free?
Yes, the Sylak campsite is free for any festival-goer holding a ticket (1-day or 3-day), from Friday morning to late Monday morning, and open from Thursday evening. Free showers and toilets are available right opposite, at the festival entrance.
What are the opening hours?
Friday 4:30pm to 12:45am (concerts from 5:30pm), Saturday 10:30am to 12:45am (concerts from 11:30am) and Sunday 10:30am to 12:45am (concerts from 11am). Re-entry is allowed with any pass.
Is payment cashless?
Yes, the bars, Sylak catering, the Sylak Café and merchandising use a cashless card. The Market and mobile food vendors, however, keep their own payment methods. Note: there is no cash machine on site or in the village.
What is the nearest station and are there shuttles?
The nearest SNCF station is Meximieux-Pérouges, 10 km away. Shuttles run between the station and the festival, on Friday and Monday only, by prior email booking, at 3 € per trip (about 15 minutes).
Is admission free for children?
Yes, entry is free for children under 12, with no booking required, provided they are accompanied by an adult. It is a family-friendly festival.
What accessibility facilities are there for disabled visitors?
Reserved parking and a dedicated PRM camping area are provided, along with accessible toilets on the campsite and the site, plus a PRM platform. Visitors with 3rd-category disability status may bring a carer (book by email at [email protected]).
What food is available on site?
A fast-food stand is run by the festival, complemented by mobile caterers and a Metal Market (record sellers, clothing, band merch). The bar serves beer, soft drinks and juices, a water fountain is freely available, and croissants and pains au chocolat are sold each morning near the showers.
