❓FAQ
When and where does the 2026 festival happen?
The Newport Jazz Festival runs from Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August 2026 — three days at Fort Adams State Park, 90 Fort Adams Drive, Newport, Rhode Island, a headland with panoramic views over Narragansett Bay and Newport Harbor.
How many stages are there?
Three: the Fort Stage, the Harbor Stage and the Quad Stage.
What time does everything open?
Parking opens at 8:00 AM, the box office and parking shuttles at 9:00 AM, the gates at 10:00 AM along with food, crafts and merchandise, music starts at 11:00 AM and the beer and wine gardens at 12:00 PM. Bear in mind there is no re-entry once you leave the grounds.
Which edition is this?
2026 is the festival's 72nd year, with roots going back to 1954 — one of the longest-running festivals in America.
Is there camping on site?
No. There is no camping at Fort Adams State Park and the festival does not run its own campground, although several campsites operate in the Newport area.
Do children get in free?
Children aged 9 and under are admitted free, with a limit of two children per ticketed adult, through the dedicated child and family gate and with proof of age required. From age 10 a General Admission ticket is needed, and anyone 15 or under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Student tickets are available for ages 10 to 25.
How do I get to Fort Adams?
Ferries are the easiest way in: the Newport Harbor Shuttle runs continuously between Perotti Park and Fort Adams, a 15-minute crossing with no reservation needed, while the Reserved Express leaves from Ann Street Pier, the Jamestown Newport Ferry from One East Ferry Wharf and SeaStreak connects India Point in Providence. On-site parking is limited, so buy a parking pass in advance — as of 2026, on-site parking sales are credit card only.
What accessibility services are provided?
An Accessibility Hub tent offers shade, water, restroom access, charging for mobility devices and dedicated volunteers. A wristband, registered online in advance or picked up on site, gives access to reserved seating at the Harbor and Quad stages and to a roped-off area beside the sound board at the Fort Stage, reached by a paved road from the entrance. Accessible restrooms are part of every restroom area, and a wheelchair-lift shuttle runs from the accessible parking lot to the entrance from 9am. ASL interpreters and assisted listening devices are not offered.
Can dietary requirements be catered for?
Concessions are curated so that almost any dietary need can be met; for allergies the team recommends asking each vendor directly. Complimentary refillable water stations are dotted around the site.
